Varicose Veins and Enlarged Veins

Varicose veins or dilated veins occur when there is venous insufficiency.

The veins serve as a return conduit for the blood that flows to the heart to be “pumped” to the lungs in order to eliminate CO2 and load up with oxygen, and then transport it through the arteries to oxygenate the different organs of the body.

Venous insufficiency is the result of several factors, including the nature of the individual (genetics), occupations that involve standing for many hours or in hot environments, obesity or overweight, and a sedentary lifestyle.

The failure due to vein dilation leads to venous insufficiency due to their enlarged caliber, which leads to an incorrect circulation performance that prevents the blood from flowing normally.

The dilation of deep venous channels usually leads to the formation of unsightly external "veins" and, depending on the degree of dilation, it also causes inflammation of the deeper veins that end up appearing on the skin in the form of twisted tubes.

At the Vilafortuny Medical Institute we can effectively treat any degree of vein dilation, whether superficial or deep, with highly effective modern methods and on an outpatient basis. Our experience of more than 40 years treating this type of condition guarantees an optimal result.

We have Radio Frequency (RF) equipment and various types of Lasers that, through minimally invasive surgery and under local anaesthesia, combined with injections of medicinal foam, help to close and eliminate the dilated veins, eliminating the insufficiencies that prevent them from performing their correct work.

With the appropriate Laser, the treatment becomes highly effective and decisive.
